About

Hi! Welcome to my personal website! I am a computational scientist currently working in the Department of Biology at the University of Fribourg. I aim at learning models from data by using a broad variety of computational techniques, such as bio/chemoinformatics, molecular dynamics, quantum chemistry, and machine/deep learning.

Research Interests

My research is focused on getting a deeper understanding, at a molecular level, on complex physicochemical processes occurring in biologically relevant systems. This implies working in projects at the interface between chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, and computer science, the required knowledge being obtained via simulations and through the development and implementation of data-driven models and algorithms.

Research Experience

I obtained my Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry from the University of Oviedo (Spain) and, subsequently, moved to the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) as a postdoctoral scholar. After this postdoctoral stay and before getting my current position at the University of Fribourg, I had the opportunity to work in some world’s leading research institutions: at the Forschungszentrum Julich (FZL), in Germany, and at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), in France.
